Castletown House is the most celebrated and magnificent Palladian style mansion in Ireland. The House was built in the 1720's by William Conolly who was later to become an important political figure in early 18th century Ireland. Roundwood House, Co Laois. Often described as having the appearance of a doll's house, Roundwood is a wonderful, family-run, Georgian House built in the 1730s. It is situated in a delightful location at the foot of the unspoilt Slieve Bloom Mountains, just one and a half hours from Dublin.
